Anaheim starts tough October with 1-2-0 record

The Anaheim Ducks started the season against the back-to-back champions Colorado Avalanche, their rivals Los Angeles Kings and the potential cup contender Florida Panthers.

 

In our "Game of the Week" the Ducks visited Staples Center to meet the Los Angeles Kings in another episode of "California Rivalry". With jsut 11 seconds into the game Anaheim defenceman Jamie Drysdale scored the 1-0 lead for his team, assisted by forwards Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras. Shortly after that Los Angeles managed to tie the game, and late in the period take the lead themselves heading into the break. 

 

It took until late in the second period before Anaheim forward Maxime Comtois scored the tying goal for his team, assisted by young centerman Liam Arnsby.

 

Again just 11 seconds into the period it was Ondrej Kase on the powerplay, who scored the 3-2 lead for the Ducks, assisted by defenceman Jackson Lacombe and forward Brayden Tracey. The Kings tied the game at 3 about two minutes later on their own powerplay and at the end of regulation both teams went into overtime. Within the first shift of overtime, and just 14 seconds played, it was again Jamie Drysdale who scored his second goal of the night and gave Anaheim a 4-3 overtime victory. (MM)

Ducks finish Pre Season with 3-3-1 overall record

The Anaheim Ducks are looking forward to the new season, starting next week. The team is healthy after Pre Season, with forward Ondrej Kase ready to go, scoring 3 goals and adding 6 assists over the past two weeks - after having missed most of the 2022-2023 campaign.

 

In our "Game of the Week" the Ducks finished the Pre Season welcoming the Winnipeg Jets at Honda Center, for their second meeting in just seven days. It took until the middle of the first period, before Anaheim forward Brayden Tracey scored on the pwoerplay, assisted by Marco Rossi and Ondrej Kase. In the final minuter of the period it was again Brayeden Tracey on the powerplay with his second of the night, assisted by Marco Rossi again and captain Rickard Rakell.

 

Early in the second period it was Ducks defenceman Mac Hollowell who scored the 3-0 lead for his team, assisted by Brayden Tracey. Winnipeg managed to score twice on the powerplay when reaching the halfway mark of the game, before Anaheim forward Boone Jenner scored, assisted by Jakob Silfverberg and Jamie Drysdale. Center Liam Arnsby added another goal for the Ducks, assisted by Rickard Rakell and less than two minutes later Trevor Zegras gave his team a commanding 6-2 lead into the final break assisted by Ondrej Kase and Brayden Tracey. Just 17 seconds into the third Jakob Silfverberg scored again for Anaheim, assisted by Boone Jenner. In the middle of the period Ondrej Kase added another goal for his team, assisted by Sam Steel. The Jets scored the final goal of the match shorthanded, but of course couldn't prevent the Ducks taking a huge 8-3 victory. (MM)

Anaheim starts Pre Season with solid 2-2-0 record

The Anaheim Ducks enter the 2023-2024 campaign with high hopes in their young core around forwards Trevor Zegras, Marco Rossi and last years team-leading scorer Troy Terry. All three have been healthy scratches for the first week of Pre Season, giving some other promising prospects a chance to shine.

 

In our "Game of the Week" the Ducks visited Bell MTS Place to face off against the Winnipeg Jets. In the middle of the first period it was forward Brayden Tracey with the 1-0 lead for Anaheim, assisted by Ondrej Kase and Jackson Lacombe. Less than two minutes later the Jets managed to tie the game, before again Brayden Tracey regained the lead for the Ducks late in the period. Sam Steel and Sean Behrens assisted on the goal.

 

The second period was pretty low on scoring, with only Anaheim forward Ondrej Kase scoring on the Powerplay - assisted by Brayden Tracey and Cole Huckins. It took until the middle of the third period before Anaheim forward Maxime Comtois scored his first goal of the Pre Season, assisted by Ondrej Kase and Sam Steel. Just 48 seconds later WInnipeg managed to score their second goal of the night and started pushing for more. But with their goalie on the bench it was Ducks forward Nick Ritchie who scored the empty netter, assisted by Boone Jenner and Jackson Lacombe - with Anaheim winning 5-2 at the end of the game.
