The 29-year-old Canadian was aquired by the Ducks last week in a trade with the Minnesota Wild and is meant to be a second-pair defenceman on Anaheims roster. Edmundson played his first two games as a Duck last week, getting 1 assist and an average icetime of 16:45 minutes.

"Adding Joel to our team for next season was important to us.", GM Matthias Mohr told the media. Edmundson was planning with a long-term extension but after intense negotiations agreed to a short contract to prove he's worth another long-term deal. (MM)

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed newly claimed defenceman Nick Jensen to a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension with an average annual value of $1.25 million.

The 32-year-old US-American was claimed by the Ducks last week to fill a deep hole on defence and already played second pair minutes in 3 games with his new team. Depending on both the market and Jensens performance he will switch between second and third pair defence long-term.

Despite extending Jensen shortly after claiming him Anaheim GM Matthias Mohr made a low-risk move, with the player passing on half of his current salary: "Nicks main goal isn't to earn big money, but to play on a regular basis." (MM)

The Anaheim Ducks claimed Defensive Defenceman Nick Jensen who was waived by the Nashville Predators earlier this week.

The 32-year-old US-American has appeared in a total of 389 games for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators since 2016, scoring 14 goals and giving 65 assists. Jensen is in the final year of his contract, earning him $2,500,000. With Anaheim lacking defence there was a huge need for a veteran defenceman whose main focus is his defensive play.

"For us it was pretty clear we'd give it a try and claim Nick. We have a lot of promising young players, but mostly offensive minded - so we were looking for a fast solution and found it in Nick Jensen.", GM Mohr said. (MM)

"Happy we got Colton from waivers. He's a player with great defensive read and that's exactly what we need right now. Too many goals against show that it's not just about our dmen - the forwards must work on their backchecking, too.", GM Matthias Mohr told the media. (MM)

The Anaheim Ducks today announced that they have bought out the remaining three years of Adam Henriques contract, saving them $5,850,000 cap space each season. Henrique also had a no-trade clause which would have made it very difficult trading him away at some point.

Adam Henrique has played all 82 games last season (15 goals, 31 asists) and was tied for 4th place in team scoring with youngster Sam Steel. The 32-year old Canadian also played for the New Jersey Devils and a career total of 822 games so far (208 goals, 267 assists). "We want to thank Adam for his effort to the team and wish him all the best for the future.", GM Matthias Mohr told the media.

The Two-Way Forward will now test the market immediately. (MM)
